The Commission voted to recommend denial of a rezoning request for a multifamily development near Roy Rivers Rd. and U.S. Hwy. 290. Additionally, the Commission approved a preliminary plat for the 284-lot Creeks Crossing subdivision and recommended approval of an ordinance modifying parking requirements in certain city areas. A proposed site development ordinance was tabled for further drafting.

Parks & Recreation Advisory Board

Planning & Zoning Commission

The Planning & Zoning Commission will hold a workshop to review, discuss, and provide input on a proposed ordinance that would add Chapter 48, Site Development, to the City of Elgin's Revised Code of Ordinances. The ordinance would repeal conflicting ordinances and include a savings clause. No final action is scheduled; the item is for discussion and input only.

The Elgin Planning and Zoning Commission held a special meeting on January 19, 2022, that was a workshop only. The Commission reviewed and discussed a proposed new Chapter 48, Site Development, of the Revised Code of Ordinances, covering topics such as driveways, ingress-egress, major versus minor site development, traffic impact analysis triggers, tree removal rules, parkland, and mandatory interconnectivity of sites. No ordinance was adopted or voted on; the changes discussed were to be incorporated into the document and taken up at the next regular meeting. Commissioner David Lanford arrived at 6:58 P.M., and the meeting adjourned at 8:53 P.M.

City Council

The Elgin City Council will consider several resolutions, including authorizing the city manager to execute agreements with TRC Engineers for the County Line Road widening and Pistol Hill water storage tank projects, and approving a master agreement and amendments to transfer water CCN service areas from Aqua WSC to the city. The council will also vote on a real estate contract with WisePads LLC, an interlocal agreement with the Austin Regional Intelligence Center, and discuss non-profit funding distribution and board appointments.

The Elgin Economic Development Corporation board will hold a regular meeting to approve minutes, hear public comments, and review the financial report. The main business is discussing and possibly approving a letter of intent from Jack Speyer and Sylvia Speyer, and setting a sale price for property next to Ace Hardware. The board will also go into executive session to discuss real property and personnel matters, then reconvene for any related action.

The Elgin Economic Development Corporation met on January 11, 2022. The board approved minutes from the December 14, 2021 meeting and approved a Letter of Intent from Jack Speyer & Sylvia Speyer, moving toward a contract. After an executive session, the board voted to put the property next to Ace Hardware up for public bid and accept offers. The board also announced the new road in the business park will be called Innovation Way.

Library Advisory Board

The Elgin Public Library Advisory Board is holding a regular meeting to hear a report from the Library Director on ongoing projects, including updates on a Texas Methodist Foundation grant and the Sesquicentennial project. The board will also discuss and possibly take action on a form for reconsidering library materials. Public comment is limited to three minutes per speaker.

City Council

The Elgin City Council will hold a public hearing and vote on an ordinance to annex 36.921 acres of land in Travis County, and assign the newly annexed property to Ward 2. The council will also consider several resolutions, including awarding a bid for a portable generator project, amending vegetation and business ordinances, and appointing members to various boards and commissions. Proclamations for the Elgin Sesquicentennial and MLK Day will be presented.
