Commission to consider housing element update, affordable housing overlay

The Planning Commission will hold public hearings on several development proposals, including a Sonic drive-thru, industrial buildings, and a zone change. The most significant item is a housing element update to address state mandates and the 6th Cycle Regional Housing Needs Allocation (RHNA), which would create an Affordable Housing Overlay District. The Ontario Planning/Historic Preservation Commission will hold public hearings and decide on a city-initiated development code amendment that revises rules for public hearing notifications, allowed uses in the Corner Store zoning district, common active open space areas, and off-street parking for small lot infill subdivisions. Other public hearing items include a 39-unit condominium project at 221 North Mountain Avenue, a 393,334-square-foot industrial development at the southwest corner of SR-60 and Milliken Avenue, and a convenience store with fuel, car wash, and beer/wine sales at 2156 South Grove Avenue.
