The following people were in attendance at the informational meeting concerning water
quality. City Administrator Kim Thomas, Public Works Marc Van Wyk, Director of
Operations for Iowa Regional Utilities Mike Wildung, Council Members - Jennifer St.
Peter, Andrea Steenhoek, Andy Algreen and Earl (Butch) Umble, Visitors Josh Davis,
David Dolmage were also in attendance. Mayor Douglas Duinink arrived at 6:33 p.m.
Director of Operations for Iowa Regional Utilities Mike Wildung stated that the City of
Newton makes and treats the water that Iowa Regional Utilities fills the Monroe towers
with. City of Newton, City of Monroe and Iowa Regional Utilities all report to the EPA
and IDNR and are not concerned with other reports from outside sources. All water
meets acceptable standards set by the EPA and IDNR. PH balancing in water is a
