Commission for Women

Centennial Committee

Planning Commission

The North Miami Planning Commission will consider a resolution authorizing the City to execute the Campus Development Agreement with the Florida International University Board of Trustees. The commission will also hear a conditional‑use permit application to convert 15 dormitory units into residential dwellings on parcels at 1640 NE 127th Street and nearby lots. A Public Works staff member is scheduled to provide a rendering and update on the pedestrian bridge at 131st Street.

Board of Adjustment

The Board of Adjustment will hold public hearings to decide on two variance requests. These items are quasi-judicial, meaning the board will determine if the requests are approved, denied, or approved with conditions.

Board of Adjustment

The Board of Adjustment will hold public hearings to decide on two variance requests. These include a request to reduce the required distance between beauty salons and a request to legalize unpermitted paving in a residential rear yard.

Commission for Women

Planning Commission

The commission approved the April 17 and May 6, 2025 minutes with a 7‑0 vote. It then approved a mayor‑council resolution to vacate, abandon and sell a portion of NW 120th Street between NW 7th Avenue and I‑95, also 7‑0. Finally, it approved text amendments to Chapter 29 of the city code, extending the NW 7th Avenue Cultural Arts and Innovation Overlay District to 143 St, with a 7‑0 vote. The meeting was adjourned by a 6‑0 vote.

Planning Commission

The Planning Commission unanimously approved the five‑year 2025‑2029 Consolidated Plan and the FY 2025‑2026 Action Plan under the CDBG and HOME programs (PC 17‑107). It also adopted amendments to the 2045 Comprehensive Plan creating a new NW 7th Avenue Cultural Arts and Innovation Overlay District and extending its boundary to 143 St (PC 17‑108). A recommendation to prohibit new nightclubs on the west side of 7th Avenue was approved alongside the plan (PC 17‑109). All motions passed 6‑0.
