Meeting called to order at 5:30 PM: by Chair: Rick Smith followed by the Pledge of
Allegiance.

Motion of Chair to accept minutes from previous meeting Unanimously approved by

Director of Marine Services Update,
The shellfish propagation fund has a balance of $312,440.85
The Shellfish Dept. summer help has started reviewing the Lees Market receipt
program. Lees Market will donate 1% of all receipts to the propagation gift fund.
Bill spoke with the Dept Marine Fisheries and the Captain of the relay dredge
boat. The relay transplant program should start within two to three weeks barring
any break downs.
Relay quahogs will be delivered to the of Town of Westport until the Fall season.
The Dept Marine Fisheries stated that relay quahogs planted this year can be
harvested after 60 days after being plated. Starting in 2027 all relay quahogs can
only be harvested after the complete one spawning season.
Mud and float docks will be replaced at the town dock and state boat ramp.

The March 30, 2026 Regular Meeting of the Board of Health was called to order at the Town Hall
Annex at 4:00 p.m.

CHAIR’S ANNOUNCEMENT
1. The Chair announced that under provisions of M.G.L., Chapter 30A, §20(f), the meeting was being

The Director reported that staff members needed to have their annual appointments as Animal
Inspectors renewed.
MOTION by Ms. Amaral to nominated Joseph Reis and Nick Vidmar as Animal Inspectors for
2026. Second by Ms. Ryden. The motion passed on a 2-0 vote.
The Director reported that the Lone Star tick has become active in the region and warned residents
to take precautions against tick bites.
He provided common symptoms of tick bites and noted that other varieties of ticks will soon
become active in this area. Ms. Ryden agreed that tick bites are a serious problem and noted that
precautions that can be taken to prevent bites are available on the Board of Health website.

The March 16, 2026 Regular Meeting of the Board of Health was called to order at the Town Hall
Annex at 4:00 p.m.

1. The Chair announced that under provisions of M.G.L., Chapter 30A, §20(f), the meeting was being
recorded.
2. The Chair led the meeting in the Pledge of Allegiance.
PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE PRESENTATION – Linda Pierce, RN
TOPIC - Is Your Child’s Personality Changing? What to Look for
Public Health Nurse Linda Pierce offered a presentation on the personality changes in young people
that can be warning signs for emotional problems and mental health issues that need to be addressed by
families.
Inappropriate behavior, extreme emotional outbursts and obvious changes in physical health or daily
routines can signal the start of bullying, harmful peer pressure or mental health issues. She noted that
the loss of interest in hobbies or friends, trouble in school or a drop in grades are other warning signs
for a child’s emotional crisis.
When recognizing such symptoms in their child, parents should try to initiate conversations about the
problem and listen without judgement. Recommendation is to seek help from scho …
