✓ Decided: Westport Conservation Commission issues emergency certification for Richmond Pond flood, approves septic repairs and certificates of compliance

The Westport Conservation Commission met on January 16, 2024, and unanimously approved an emergency certification for the Highway Department to remove debris from Richmond Pond to address a public safety flood issue. The commission also unanimously approved a septic system upgrade at 1274 Drift Road, a revetment repair at 374 River Road pending state comments, and certificates of compliance for two properties. All votes were unanimous.

Planning Board to hold public hearing on short-term rental and B&B regulations

The Planning Board is conducting public hearings on zoning bylaw amendments for short-term rentals and bed and breakfasts. The board is also reviewing a subdivision plan for Rosewood Lane and discussing the creation of a new Westport Gateway District.

The Westport Planning Board voted unanimously to continue the public hearings for the Salty Breeze Inc. project at 260 State Road to January 23, 2024, and for the Marcotte Drive subdivision to February 6, 2024, due to engineers awaiting additional information. The board also approved minutes from November 14 and 28, 2023, and discussed updates on the Route 1 rezoning, a solar project, grants, and zoning definitions for congregate living. No final decisions were made on the continued hearings.
