Board of County Commissioners

The Board of County Commissioners unanimously adopted the FY 2024-25 final budget of $1,099,097,799 and the final millage rates, including a general countywide rate of 4.8751 mills. The board also approved a consent agenda that included a 5.25% increase in solid waste fees and a 4.6% increase in water and sewer service charges, effective January 1, 2025, and October 1, 2024, respectively. Board of County Commissioners

The Board of County Commissioners held the first of two required public hearings for the FY 2024-25 budget. They unanimously adopted the tentative millage rates (countywide 4.8751 mills, Fire MSTU 2.7649 mills, Roads MSTU 0.1107 mills) and the tentative all-funds budget of $1,095,097,799. The budget is balanced with no increase to any property tax millage rates, and includes funding for 10.5 new full-time positions and deferred maintenance. The second and final public hearing is scheduled for September 24, 2024.

Development Review Committee

The most contested item, at 10032 Bear Lake Road, was approved 4-2 with a condition that the fence within the 30-foot setback from the Normal High Water Line be four feet; members Hattaway and Beeghly voted no. All other variances passed with all six present members voting aye. Member Heather Stark was absent.

Charter Review Commission

The Charter Review Commission is holding its third public hearing. The body is discussing two resolutions regarding ballot titles for county charter changes.

Charter Review Commission

The Charter Review Commission approved moving Proposed Resolution No. 2 to a public hearing, which would require a supermajority vote to remove property from the county's designated rural area. The Commission rejected Proposed Resolution No. 1 regarding natural lands and Proposed Resolution No. 3 regarding future land use designations due to lack of majority support. Additionally, the Commission unanimously approved the monthly invoice for legal counsel DSK Law.
