The South Salt Lake City Council is holding a Truth in Taxation public hearing to receive input on a proposed property tax increase for public safety services. If approved, the city would collect an additional $1,839,537 per year, raising the tax on a $470,000 home by $83.50 annually and on a similar business by $151.81. Following the hearing, the council may take final action by adopting the proposed tax rate and the final General Fund budget for fiscal year 2026-2027.

increase its property tax revenue. He explained the financial impact on residents and businesses.
For the average resident, the tax would increase from approximately $644 to $727, representing
an increase of about $83.50 per year, or roughly $7 per month. For an average business in the
City, the tax would increase from approximately $1,171 to $1,323.52, which is an increase of

The South Salt Lake City Council will hold a public hearing and consider adopting the FY 2026-2027 interim budget, a final general fund tax rate, and a proposed public safety tax rate increase. The agenda also includes a resolution acknowledging a separate public hearing on officer compensation.
