Mr. Cameron Jones, a principal with Benton Engineering, began the discussion with a history of Troy’s
wastewater treatment system, which was originally built in the 1950s. The current system was built in the late
1990s. The process for the proposed upgrade began in 2016. He will be presenting a facility plan update this
summer. New phosphorus limits need to be met by 2035.
The existing system has about 300,000 feet of pipe and 57 miles of sewer pipes. The city treats 620 million
gallons of sewage each year and removes 850 pounds of pollutants. The treatment plant is designed for an
