Ascension transportation panel accepts three subdivision roads; finance committee agenda lists $6.7M road allocation

The Ascension Parish Transportation Committee voted unanimously on Oct. 8 to accept three roads in the Delaune Estates Subdivision into the Parish Maintenance System, according to meeting minutes. The committee also approved evaluations of two intersections on Stringer Bridge Road and the relocation of an all-way stop on Charleston Road. Intersection evaluations and a stop relocation

Drainage district: five surveying renewals

The East Ascension Consolidated Gravity Drainage District No. 1 Board of Commissioners met Oct. 6 to consider renewals of surveying and subsurface utility engineering contracts with five firms — Crescent Engineering & Mapping, LLC; Earles and Associates, LLC; GIS Engineering, LLC dba Chustz Surveying, LLC; Quality Engineering & Surveying, LLC; and Surveying and Mapping, LLC — each through November 16, 2027 and each not to exceed $300,000.00, shared with other providers.

West Bank overlay draws two hearings

The Planning Commission held a special meeting Oct. 7 at 6:00 PM in the Council Chambers at 607 E. Worthey Rd., Gonzales, with public hearings on the West Bank Resilient Community Overlay District Map and the West Bank Resilient Community Overlay Ordinance. In each case the Commission was to recommend approval or denial to the Parish Council. The agenda states no dollar amounts or specific properties.

Plats, partitions, zonings and a variance

The Planning Commission's Oct. 14 agenda lists final plat approval for Black Bayou Estates, public hearings on family partitions of John Stafford & Amanda V. Stafford properties, a public hearing on the Daigle Pointe Subdivision preliminary plat, a proposed amendment to LDC Appendix V, Section 17-506.3 on Offsite Drainage Assessment, and changes to the commission's by-laws. The Zoning Commission's Oct. 14 agenda lists two requests to change Medium Intensity Residential to Mixed Use — PZ-4021.26 for Judge Russo Land Company, LLC on LA Hwy 1 S and PZ-4026.26 for Wilson Paul Rossi on S St. Landry Avenue — plus elections for Chairman and Vice-Chairman. Ascension Parish committee accepts three Delaune Estates roads; $6.7M road allocation and drainage land buys await votes

The Ascension Parish Transportation Committee accepted three roads in the Delaune Estates Subdivision into the Parish Maintenance System and approved two intersection evaluations and the relocation of an all-way stop, according to official minutes from its Oct. 8, 2026 meeting. $6.7 million road allocation on the Finance Committee agenda

The agenda also covered ordinances DC-26.01 and ZT-26.01 to add a "High Impact Development Facility" category to the development code and zoning tables, a rezoning request for Golden Meadows Subdivision, Road Infrastructure District #IDD-2026-01 (Black Bayou Estates), new addressing fees, and a personnel manual change.

Ascension Parish Transportation Committee accepts roads, approves speed cushions; Council to weigh $2.87M Parker Road bid

The Ascension Parish Council is scheduled to meet Aug. 20 to consider a consent agenda that includes a $2.87 million bid for widening Parker Road, several land acquisitions, and a speed limit change. The meeting follows the Transportation Committee's unanimous approval of six roads into the parish maintenance system and speed cushions on Butch Gore Park Road.

Transportation Committee decisions

The Transportation Committee, meeting Aug. 13, unanimously accepted six roads into the Parish Maintenance System: Belle Maison Drive (1,888 ft), Belle Trace Avenue (1,241 ft), Belle Reine Drive (466 ft), Belle Reserve Avenue (1,716 ft), Belle Mere Drive (435 ft), and Belle Prairie Drive (1,218 ft). The committee also approved installing speed cushions on Butch Gore Park Road and authorized the Parish President to execute a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with LADOTD for the LA 44 at Causey Road/Merritt Evans Road turn lane project. All votes were unanimous.

Pending council action

The Aug. 20 council meeting will consider a $2,867,362.50 bid from Procivil, LLC for widening Parker Road (PR 929 to Fountainbleau Road). The agenda also includes a $14,000 one-time payment to the Registrar of Voters Association for a 2027 seminar, a $263,087.63 renewal of professional liability insurance for Parish Health Services, and a public hearing to acquire 1.270 acres in Section 28, T11S, R14E for $20,000 plus closing costs. A resolution to establish a 25 mph speed limit on Carrie Lane is also listed.

Other recent meetings

Finance Committee (Aug. 11) — The committee considered the same Parker Road bid, a $14,000 funding for the Registrar of Voters Seminar 2027, a $120,000 funding for a school social work program at Donaldsonville Primary and Lowery Elementary, and a $263,087.63 renewal of professional liability insurance for Parish Health Services. It also reviewed a change order that would decrease the PR 929 at PR 930 roundabout contract by $1,323,728.83. No minutes have been published.

Drainage Board (Aug. 11) — The East Ascension Consolidated Gravity Drainage District No. 1 considered a $300,000 contract with Hartman Engineering for culvert sizing and drainage consulting, and a $115,000 reimbursement agreement with Atmos Energy for installing gas lines along Alligator Bayou Rd. The board also accepted minutes from the July 7, 2026 meeting. No decisions have been published.

Board of Adjustments (Aug. 12) — The board held a public hearing on three residential variance requests involving a height restriction and two setback requirements. No decisions have been published.

Planning Commission (Aug. 12) — The commission held public hearings for the Arrowhead Industrial Park preliminary plat and a family partition for Kevin Prettelt (Lots F-1, F-2, F-3). It also discussed proposed changes to the Planning and Zoning Commission By-Laws, a proposed amendment to add a High Impact Development Facility section to the Land Development Code, and a West Bank Overlay Status Report by Bayou Rouge Environmental Planning. No decisions have been published.
