Barnwell County Council agendas include easements, dissolution, mutual aid; no decisions published
Barnwell County Council met twice on Aug. 11 and its Personnel Committee met Aug. 21, but minutes have not yet been published, so no official decisions are recorded. The agendas include a water line project, two easements to the City of Barnwell, the dissolution of a senior-services agency, and mutual aid agreements with a federal nuclear agency.
County Council regular meeting (Aug. 11)
The council held a public hearing and third reading on an ordinance conveying two easements to the City of Barnwell, identified as TMS# 072-00-00-039 and 072-00-00-040. The ordinance was scheduled for a vote after the hearing.
The council also introduced two ordinances on first reading:
- An ordinance to terminate, dissolve, and wind up Generations Unlimited, formerly known as the Barnwell Office on Aging.
- An ordinance approving mutual aid agreements with the National Nuclear Security Administration for the Barnwell County Fire Department and EMS.
A previously scheduled public hearing on an ordinance regarding a legal residence exemption for certain visa holders was cancelled.
Executive session on water line project (Aug. 11)
The council held an executive session under S.C. Code § 30-4-70(a)(2) to discuss negotiations on proposed contractual arrangements and the purchase of real property for a water line project. The session was closed to the public, and no details of the negotiations were released.
Personnel Committee (Aug. 21)
The Personnel Committee met to consider a salary increase request for a part-time employee in the Clerk of Court's office, discuss the Time ClockPlus system, and receive an update on Human Resources/Payroll. The committee also approved minutes from its Aug. 12 meeting.
