Pennsbury board to consider $561,510 mental health contract, other spending
The Pennsbury School Board has several spending and policy items on its August meeting agendas, including a $561,510 mental health counseling contract with Lakeside School. All four meetings were held in person at Charles Boehm Middle School, and minutes have not yet been published, so no decisions have been confirmed.
Finance and Partnership Committee (Aug. 11)
The committee will consider accepting a donated violin from Attila and Emese Herdlicska, and issuing procurement cards to Brian Pettaway (AFJROTC) and to Stephanie Hultquist and Laura Tittle (Senior Prom). It will also vote on a $100,000 Public Office Bond and the appointment of Kimberly Steffy as Board Secretary through June 30, 2029. A sponsor-to-sponsor food services agreement with the Center for Student Learning for 2026-2027 is listed at $110,412 in estimated annual revenue. The committee will also review a CLEAR residency verification contract with Thomson Reuters at $40,804.80 for the first year, with a 5% cap on increases for years 2 and 3.
Education Committee (Aug. 12)
The education committee will vote on a $561,510 agreement with Lakeside School for a licensed mental health professional for 2026-2027, paid with ACCESS funds. It will also consider an Edpuzzle software renewal at $14,869.55, a TypingClub purchase of 6,500 licenses for grades 2-8 at $14,300, and a baseball spring training trip to Myrtle Beach, SC, with a district cost of $600 for substitute coverage. Multiple waiver agreements for students with complex needs to attend private placements are listed, with costs up to $80,873.89 per year.
Policy and Personnel Committee (Aug. 13)
This committee will take first reading of Policy 223, which would set a minimum age of 16 for operating an electronic bike, per Pennsylvania law. It will also hold second readings of policies 201 (Admission of Students), 304 (Employment of District Staff), and 832 (Educational Equity). Annual appointments for 2026-27 include Dr. Kristopher Brown as Title IX Coordinator and Brett Haskin as Treasurer. The committee will vote on a proposed increase in the homebound tutor rate from $30 to $35 per hour, and approval of the 2026-27 District Organizational Chart.
Board Action Meeting (Aug. 20)
The full board will vote on the Lakeside School counseling agreement for $561,510 (ACCESS funds), renew Edpuzzle software for $14,869.55, approve Toddle Conference attendance for $319.50 in Hershey, PA, and approve Brett DiNovi & Associates behavioral consultation at $1,875 per day. It will also approve waiver agreements for private placements up to $80,873.89 per year.
All meetings included public comment periods, and metal detector screening was conducted prior to entry. The outcomes of these votes are not yet known because minutes have not been published.
