Bemidji meetings cover claims, permits, and budgets; minutes not yet published
Bemidji's city boards and commissions met throughout the first half of July to weigh claims, permits, budget discussions, and planning cases. Minutes have not yet been published for any of the sessions held in the past two weeks, so the outcomes listed below are drawn from agendas only and have not been confirmed as final decisions.
City Council — July 6
The City Council agenda listed claims totaling $1,952,831.72 submitted by the Finance Officer, plus $97,138.61 submitted by Legends Global for the Sanford Center and $47,737.13 submitted by the Finance Officer to VisitBemidji. The agenda also included approval of a state grant from the State of Minnesota for a gear washer and extractor, and approval of a quote from Jacobson's Concrete & Masonry for the Paul Bunyan Plaza Concrete Project. Budget Committee Work Session — July 7

Sustainability Commission — July 9
The commission agenda included review of a tiny house subdivision under Sec. 28-471 of city code, planning cases involving a rezone and concept Planned Unit Development (PUD) and a Conditional Use Permit (CUP), an EV Infrastructure Roadmap, and strategic priorities on native landscaping and waste and recycling. The body was also set to select an interim chair for October 2026 through January 2027. Minutes are not yet available.
Planning Board — July 13
The Planning Board agenda listed an Interim Use Permit for Parcel 80.04537.00 (Just for Kix), a Conditional Use Permit for Parcel 80.04221.00 (Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe), and a Conditional Use Permit for Parcel 80.05524.00 (Crossroads Church). A final plat for parcels 80.00344.99, 80.00505.04, 80.00505.05, 80.01166.00, 80.01166.02, and 80.01166.04 (Greater Bemidji) was also scheduled for review, along with staff reports and a public comment period. Public Arts Commission — July 14
The commission agenda included the G15 public art grant, a proposed wastewater-treatment mural, artwork for Voyageurs and North Country Park, donation of a peace-pole sculpture, and plans for a kiosk and artist reception on September 12.
