Carteret County boards weigh RV park, radio system upgrade
This week's meeting roundup covers recent agendas from the Carteret County Elections Board, Consolidated Human Services Board, and Planning Commission, plus an upcoming County Commissioners meeting with a $2.55 million public safety radio system change order. No minutes have been published yet for the recent meetings, so all items are pending decisions.
Planning Commission to consider 63-space RV park
The Carteret County Planning Commission will consider preliminary plan approval for Morse Road RV Park Phase I, a 63-space RV park with a pool, bathhouse, and pickleball courts at 245 Morse Road, Swansboro (PINs 536602665106000 & 536602660487000). The property is in a Special Flood Hazard Area (AE-11) and contains wetlands; no impacts to jurisdictional waters are proposed. Approval would be conditioned on acquiring all necessary state and local permits, combining two parcels, and completing construction within 24 months. An NCDOT driveway access permit (D022-016-26-00037) has already been obtained. Public notice was mailed and posted July 24, 2026, with legal ads published July 29 and August 5, 2026.
Elections Board and Human Services Board agendas
The Carteret County Board of Elections will consider approving minutes from July meetings, hear a candidate filing update, set a date to appoint early voting officials, and discuss a "Trusted Elections Town Hall" event. The meeting includes public comment and board comments.
The Carteret County Consolidated Human Services Board will adopt a consent agenda including approval of the May 11, 2026 meeting minutes and an updated fee schedule. The board will also discuss an operating procedures amendment, receive updates on the Post Overdose Response Team (PORT) and high school prevention education, review current and potential rules and policies, and hear reports on bad debt write-offs, Health Department and DSS updates, and the Director's Report.
