Edgewater magistrate finds 13 code violations; council weighs data center moratorium

Edgewater roundup: Beautification awards decided; council to weigh data center moratorium

The Recreation & Cultural Services Board selected winners for the 2026 Beautification Awards at its July 28 meeting, the only formal decisions recorded in the past two weeks. The board gave the Commercial Beautification Award to Coastal Corner/Nauti Juice by consensus and the Residential Beautification Award to 137 W. Palm Way unanimously. It also recommended that two children's Butterfly Wing Coloring Project finalists be recognized at a future City Council meeting. The board approved its April 16 meeting minutes unanimously and postponed discussion on Laura Konter stepping down and scheduling its next meeting.

Edgewater's Special Magistrate upheld code enforcement citations against four property owners on July 7, ordering maximum applicable penalties in three cases where no one appeared to contest the violations.
