Hoschton Council Approves Rezoning for Car Wash, Appoints Interim Clerk
The Hoschton City Council on Aug. 13 approved a rezoning request that will allow a car wash on a 1.69-acre parcel, appointed an interim city clerk, and approved several agreements including a water purchase contract. All votes were unanimous.
Rezoning and variance
The council approved rezoning request Z-26-01, changing a parcel from M1 to C3, with conditions restricting use to a car wash and requiring compliance with city codes. The vote was unanimous. The council also approved variance V-26-01, allowing a swimming pool to be built despite setback requirements. That vote was also unanimous.
Personnel and administrative actions
Tiffany Wheeler was appointed as Interim City Clerk. The council approved Addendum No. 1 to the Barrow County Water System Project, which covers surveying work. It also authorized a weather siren location at the Jopena Blvd tank (South Tank).
The council adopted Resolution 2026-19, adopting the Jackson County Hazard Mitigation Plan 2025-2030, and adopted the Jackson County Emergency Operations Plan. It approved a water purchase contract with the Jackson County Water and Sewerage Authority.
Public hearing
Earlier in the meeting, the council held a public hearing on the rezoning and variance requests. No formal action was taken during the hearing.
