Waupun boards approve Main Street renovation grants; land-use and borrowing items await action

Waupun's Business Improvement District and Community Development Authority both voted July 21 to fund exterior renovation projects along E Main Street, approving a combined total of more than $8,400 in grants for painting, doors, and building improvements.

BID approves $4,715 for painting and door projects

The Business Improvement District board unanimously approved a $4,715 grant for repainting and new doors split between two properties. The board deferred a separate funding request for 309 E Main Street until fall, when cost estimates are expected to be available.

The board also unanimously approved coordinating its 2027 operating plan with Main Street goals, and set dates for two upcoming business alliance events: a Business Connections event on August 18 at Hoya Hop House, and a Golf Outing on September 11.

Minutes from May 19, 2026, May 2026 financials, and June 2026 financials were all approved unanimously.

CDA approves grants for 426, 428, 309, and 311 E Main Street

The Community Development Authority approved two grant awards for E Main Street buildings. A grant of $1,178.75 per building for 426 and 428 E Main Street passed unanimously with one abstention. A separate $2,600 grant for 309 and 311 E Main Street passed unanimously.

The CDA also unanimously approved minutes from its May 19, 2026 meeting and the May and June 2026 financial reports.

Plan Commission set to review residential conversions, Prairie Fields plat

The Plan Commission met July 22, but minutes have not yet been published. According to the agenda, the commission scheduled a public hearing on a request by John Bartlett at 208 E Franklin St to convert off-street parking in a front yard. The commission was also set to consider a request by Betty Woxland at 6 South Madison St to convert first-floor commercial space into a residential unit, review the Prairie Fields Preliminary Plat, and conduct an extra-territorial review of a Certified Survey Map for the Town of Waupun, Section 21.
