Comanche County Commissioners to propose tax rate, consider sick leave pool
The Comanche County Commissioners Court has a full week ahead, with a proposed tax rate for the 2027 budget, a special meeting on employee sick leave, and a public hearing on a records fee. No decisions have been published from recent meetings; all were agenda-only.
Recent meetings
At its Aug. 10 meeting, the court discussed several items, including Texas Department of Transportation fees for 2027, a TxDOT grant for a county road project, a Texas Historical Commission grant for courthouse restoration, a Texas Department of Agriculture grant, and a contract with the Texas General Land Office for road crossing improvements. No action was recorded.
On Aug. 17, the court held a public hearing on a proposed Archive Plan for fiscal year 2026-2027. The plan would add a fee of up to $10 for recording or filing public documents, with revenue dedicated to preserving older county records. The fee is authorized by Local Government Code Section 118.025. Citizens unable to attend could submit comments to County Judge Stephanie L. Davis.
Also on Aug. 17, the court considered certifying the county road inventory for TxDOT (deadline Aug. 31, 2026), a sub-agreement with the Comanche County Hospital District for a rural ambulance grant under HB 3000, and structural repair recommendations for the courthouse restoration re-bid set. The agenda also included the same archive plan public hearing at 10:00 AM, budget amendments, and approval of accounts due and owing.
Upcoming: Aug. 24 regular meeting
The court will meet today, Aug. 24, to propose the 2025 tax rate for the 2027 budget, with a record vote and a scheduled public hearing. It will also set a hearing date to adopt the 2026-2027 budget.

- A closed session to consider a tax abatement application from Innomatrix, LLC.
Upcoming: Aug. 25 special meeting
The court will hold a special meeting on Aug. 25 at 9:00 AM to discuss and possibly act on a Comanche County Employee Sick Leave pool.
