Fire district approves $991,348 change order; supervisors adopt eminent domain resolution for I-80 interchange
Contra Costa County's fire board approved a $991,348 change order and raised a project payment limit by $1,000,000 to $17,030,246 for Phase 2 of the Contra Costa Regional Communications Center remodel, and the Board of Supervisors adopted an eminent domain resolution tied to the I-80 San Pablo Dam Road Interchange Improvement Project. Those were among the few items actually decided in county meetings over the past two weeks. Most other bodies published agendas only, and minutes for those meetings have not yet been posted.
Fire district: contracts and recognitions
Meeting Oct. 6, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Board of Directors approved its consent agenda, which included:

The board also accepted the Fire Chief's report on district activities.
Supervisors: eminent domain and 2027 officers
The Board of Supervisors on Oct. 6 adopted Resolution of Necessity No. 2026-385 for the acquisition of property by eminent domain for the I-80 San Pablo Dam Road Interchange Improvement Project. The board elected Supervisor Ken Carlson as 2027 Chair and Supervisor Shanelle Scales-Preston as 2027 Vice Chair, accepted the Public Defender's report on the Holistic Intervention Partnership and the report of the Interdepartmental Climate Action Task Force, and approved consent calendar items C.1 through C.152. It also denied multiple tort liability claims, including those for A.S., K.F., and others.
Land-use questions set for review, not decided
The Zoning Administrator's Oct. 5 agenda listed a continued hearing on a vesting tentative map (County File CDMS22-00011) to split 2.56 acres into three residential parcels off Withers Avenue in unincorporated Lafayette, with a tree permit to remove 20 trees and work within the dripline of 24 others, four exception requests, and 1,200 cubic yards of grading. A second hearing covered a Land Use Permit renewal for an existing Crown Castle wireless facility with T-Mobile at 8050 Cummings Skyway in Crockett, with no modifications proposed.
The Bay Point Municipal Advisory Council reviewed two applications Oct. 6: a land use permit for a convenience store called "La Michoacana" in existing commercial space, and continued operation of an existing Verizon wireless facility. The council provides comment on such applications; it does not grant the permits. The Alamo Municipal Advisory Council reviewed referral comments on 20 Castle Crest Road and 320 Marks Road.
