Dukes County boards weigh budgets, emergency plans, and property updates
In the past two weeks, several Dukes County committees and board meetings were held to review agendas, budget allocations, emergency management plans, and public health requests. As of this writing, no minutes have been published, so no decisions or votes have been reported.
Land Use Committee
The Land Use Committee met remotely on Aug. 11 to receive updates on four county-owned properties: the Dukes County Courthouse in Edgartown, 114 New York Ave in Oak Bluffs, 29 Breakdown Lane in Tisbury, and the Administration Building at 9 Airport Road in Edgartown. The agenda was informational, with no decisions or votes listed.
Finance Committee
Also on Aug. 11, the Finance Committee met remotely to consider allocating FY26 investment income to stabilization and capital funds, discuss spending remaining ARPA funds, and review a Health Council budget amendment proposal. No outcomes have been reported.
Emergency Management Association
The Dukes County Emergency Management Association met Aug. 12 to discuss updates on the Martha's Vineyard Island-wide Emergency Management Strategic Plan (2027-2031), the MVP 2.0 program, and a FEMA application from the Town of Tisbury. The agenda also included discussion of the future of the MV Regional Emergency Planning Committee, plus routine items such as approving minutes and a treasurer's report.
Opioid Abatement Advisory Board
The Opioid Abatement Advisory Board met remotely Aug. 17. The agenda included approval of July 15, 2026 meeting minutes and a request to cover transportation and lodging expenses for a Public Health Analyst to present the Substance Use Disorder and Behavioral Health Needs Assessment in person. The meeting had no public comment period.
Public Health Collaborative
The Inter-Island Public Health Collaborative Advisory Board met remotely Aug. 18. The agenda covered approval of July 22 meeting minutes, a review of the FY26 final budget and expenditures, election of a FY27 chair and vice chair, a FY27 workplan review, and discussion of a possible MAVEN Memorandum of Understanding access agreement. No public comment period was scheduled.
