Euless council weighs budget, tax rate, and permits; no decisions published yet
No final decisions have been published from Euless government meetings held over the past two weeks. All recent agendas — including the City Council's budget and tax rate hearings — are agenda-only, with minutes not yet released. The most consequential item on the table is the adoption of the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 operating and capital budget, which the council is scheduled to consider at its August 17 meeting.
Budget and tax rate
The City Council held public hearings on August 10 and August 11 for the FY 2026-2027 operating and capital budget, which funds parks, library improvements, and economic development projects. The council also heard a public hearing on the FY 2025-2026 budget amendment and received a quarterly financial report.
At the August 17 meeting, the council is set to consider adopting the FY 2026-2027 budget (Ordinance 2457), ratifying a property tax increase, and setting the ad valorem tax rate for 2026 (Ordinance 2458). A taxpayer impact statement on the agenda lists a median homestead value of $312,311 and a property tax bill of $1,174.49.
Zoning and permits
The August 11 council agenda includes two specific use permits: one for a passenger car rental service at 203 W. Euless Boulevard, and another for a tanning salon at 2750 State Highway 121, Suite 300. The council also considered an ordinance amending home occupation definitions and regulations in the Unified Development Code.
On August 18, the Planning and Zoning Commission is set to consider a site plan for warehouses located north of South Pipeline Road, about 1,750 feet west of Westpark Way (Site Plan Case No. 26-02-SP). The commission may also enter closed session to consult with its attorney.
Contracts and infrastructure
Several contracts are on the August 11 consent agenda, including software, network hardware, fiber optic cabling, and electrical work for the ice plant replacement at the Children's Health StarCenter. The August 17 agenda includes contracts with Dunaway Associates for planning services (land use plan, development code, economic strategies), Birkhoff, Hendricks & Carter for water/wastewater master plan updates, and Logical Solutions for 21 HVAC split systems at the Texas Star Conference Center.
Interlocal collaboration
A notice was posted for a possible quorum of the City Council at a Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District Board of Trustees meeting on August 19. The meeting is intended to explore future collaborations among Euless, Hurst, Bedford, and HEB ISD. No decisions or discussions are listed on that agenda.
