Freeborn County commissioners set to act on swine barn expansion, zoning amendment; recent meeting minutes still pending
Freeborn County residents will see several land-use and budget decisions on the July 21 Board of County Commissioners agenda, including a proposed expansion of a swine finisher barn and a zoning ordinance amendment. The Board of County Commissioners met or scheduled workshops on July 7 and July 14. Because minutes have not been published for any of these sessions, it is not possible to confirm what was decided versus what was only discussed.
The July 7 regular meeting agenda listed several resolutions for the Songbird Trail project, including a construction contract award, an Active Transportation Grant agreement, a MnDNR Regional Trail Grant agreement, and bridge reconditioning. The agenda also included a resolution to deny opioid settlement funding for the Peer Support for Freeborn program through Meetopolis, and approval of an off-site gambling application for the Twin Lakes Firemens Relief Association at Hickory Hills Campground. A memorandum of agreement with the City of Hartland for parking and access at a new community center and fire hall, and a Driver and Vehicle Services Lease Agreement with the Department of Public Safety for 2027–2032, were also listed.
