Cherokee County election board certifies primary results; commissioners weigh millage rate, grants, and zoning
The Cherokee County Board of Elections and Registration certified the June 16, 2026, General Primary results in two special called meetings on July 7, approving both party returns unanimously, 5-0.
Election results certified
The Board approved the Democratic Party election returns 5-0 and the Republican Party election returns 5-0. Findings confirmed that total ballots cast did not exceed active registered voters, with three ballots remaining to be cured. In a separate special called meeting the same day, the Board also certified the Democratic and Republican Party General Primary Runoff results, each by a 5-0 vote, after approving that meeting's agenda 5-0.
Polling location change proposed
At its July 6 regular meeting, the Board of Elections discussed a proposed change to the Woodlands Precinct polling location, moving voters from Little River Elementary School to the Woodlands Club House.
