Montgomery County area meetings: Council set to weigh special use permits, solid waste rates; budget workshops held
City Council considers special use permits, solid waste rate changes
The Montgomery City Council scheduled public hearings and possible votes for its July 14 meeting on several items with direct effects on residents and businesses.
The agenda included a special use permit for a Wells Fargo financial institution with a drive-through at Corner John, TRACT 2-B, and a special use permit for the expansion of The Village Play Cafe at 15363 Summit Park Drive, Suite 204.
The council was also set to consider an ordinance amending rates for solid waste collection service, an agreement with TxDOT for Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs), and a height variance request for a 150-foot flagpole at 20025 Eva Street (HEB).

Council holds FY2027 budget and capital plan workshop
On July 13, the City Council held a workshop to discuss the FY2027 annual budget by fund and department. The session also covered the city's 5-year Capital Improvement Projects, including an impact fee deposit summary, a 2026 CO Bond summary, and one-year project exhibits.

Downtown improvements and business grants discussed
The City of Montgomery held a public meeting July 9 to discuss the Downtown Improvements Project and Business Improvement Grant Guidelines. No formal action was taken and no votes were cast.
Kimberly Gonzalez presented the Business Improvement Grant Guidelines. Buckson Landscape Architecture, WGA Consulting Engineers, and City Staff presented the Downtown Improvements Project.
Planning & Zoning Commission takes up church replat
The Planning & Zoning Commission met July 7 to consider and possibly act on a replat for Cornerstone Community Church (Development No. 2510). The agenda also included approval of the June 2, 2026 meeting minutes and a refresher training session for commissioners on their roles, legal requirements, and development processes. The training was informational only and involved no official business.
