Polk County 911 committee advances sheriff budget amendment, bylaws and training policy

Polk County 911 board approves cross-county alert plan

The Polk County Joint 911 Service Board unanimously approved the Alert Iowa Operations and Procedures Plan at its Aug. 19 meeting, a coordinated effort with Dallas County to align emergency alert policies. The plan is a first step toward automatic cross-county alerting.

The board voted unanimously to approve the Alert Iowa Operations and Procedures Plan, which coordinates Smart911 and Alert Iowa policies between the two counties. • Countywide Hazard Mitigation Plan amendments for Bondurant, Des Moines, Pleasant Hill, Polk City, West Des Moines, and Windsor Heights.

Board of Health

Polk County committees approve State Fair communications plan; Board schedules hearings on vacant parcels, road funding

Polk County's Metro Interoperability Committee approved a communications plan for the upcoming Iowa State Fair on July 23, the most consequential action among recent county meetings. The plan includes updates to the parade route talkaround frequency assignments.
