Seneca council agendas target wastewater repairs, park upgrades, and new hire; minutes pending
Seneca's recent Village Council, Planning Commission, and Park Board meetings addressed infrastructure spending, park improvements, and routine administrative business, but official minutes have not yet been published for any of the three sessions. The following items are drawn from the agendas; outcomes cannot be confirmed until minutes are released.
Village Council — July 6
The council agenda listed several expenditures tied to storm response and plant maintenance. Proposed items included a $48,736.00 IDOT Engineering Services Agreement for River Road and a $45,860.00 payment to Chamlin and Associates for street light mapping and water main relocation.
Wastewater Treatment Plant items on the agenda included $8,385.72 for a backup generator rental. Emergency storm tree services were listed at $6,050.00 and $2,000.00 across various streets.
The agenda also included discussion of a proposed Class 1 Minor Land Subdivision for Brian Larou and Peter Larou, Jr. Because minutes are not yet available, it is not confirmed whether any of these items were approved.
Planning Commission — July 8
The Planning Commission agenda was largely procedural. Commissioners were scheduled to approve minutes from the June 24, 2026 special meeting and to receive reports from the Zoning Enforcement Officer and the Code Enforcement Officer. The agenda also included roll call, public comment, and future agenda planning. No substantive land-use decisions were listed.
Park Board — July 14
The Park Board agenda included approval of June 2026 meeting minutes and the Treasurer's Report. New business listed an order for two picnic tables for Crotty Park, not to exceed $3,200 from Barco Products, noted as a donation.
Discussion items covered a possible switch of the Graves Park head, planning a National Night Out table for August 4, and review of the OSLAD grant deadline of August 31. Updates were also scheduled on Crotty Park, Graves Park, the community garden, and the boat launch.
