Sterling roundup: AED purchase, library fee and mall TIF on agendas — recent outcomes not yet documented
Sterling's City Council, Public Library Board and a third body listed in the records as the Plan Commission all held meetings in the past two weeks, but the only records available for each are agendas. Minutes have not been published, so no vote, purchase, fee or ordinance from those meetings can be reported here as decided. The largest dollar figures in the recent agendas are a $22,836.00 defibrillator purchase and, among upcoming items, a $314,417.97 pay request.
City Council, Oct. 5: defibrillators and commission eligibility
The council's Oct. 5, 2026 agenda, for a 6:30 PM meeting, listed votes on Ordinance 2026-10-25, which would amend Chapter 2, Article V, Division 13 to modify eligibility criteria for the Sterling Industrial Commission, and on waiving the bid process to buy nine Stryker LIFEPAK 1000 AED defibrillators from General Medical Devices Inc. for $22,836.00.
The agenda also listed a Building and Zoning Department discussion, a recommended personnel action, and consent items covering minutes, bills and payroll, a Domestic Violence Awareness Month proclamation and Trick or Treat hours. Whether any of these passed is not established by the records provided.
Library Board, Oct. 6: non-resident fee
The Sterling Public Library Board met Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026 at 7:00 PM at 102 W. 3rd St. in the Community Room. Its main substantive item was discussion and approval of a non-resident fee. The agenda does not state a dollar amount for that fee.
Routine items were listed as consent: minutes, invoices and receipts, plus a cash and investment report. The board was also scheduled to receive the librarian's report and circulation and story hour statistics.
Oct. 13 record: budget and Centennial items
The Oct. 13 entry is labeled Plan Commission, but its headline and summary describe the Sterling Municipal Band reviewing September financials and the 2027/2028 budget, and discussing winter concerts and planning for a Centennial celebration. Listed items include Tuba Christmas on Dec. 5, 2026, a Winter Concert on Jan. 8, 2027, a Centennial Celebration discussion and calendar, and direct/paperless payroll. The records do not resolve the difference between the body named and the subject matter described.
