Stockbridge's City Council agenda for Oct. 12 listed two townhome zoning requests, purchases of police vehicles and trucks, and acceptance of a public park, among other items. The Oct. 12 City Council agenda listed a zoning modification for a 91-unit townhome development at 55 Valley Hill Road, and a zoning modification with removal of five conditions for a 90-unit townhome development at 4882 North Henry Boulevard.

Also listed: purchase of five 2027 Ford Police Interceptors and upfitting for $358,561.20; purchase of three 2027 Ford F-150 4x4 trucks for $157,305.78; acceptance of a 13.07 +/- acre public park on Campground Road; discussion of proposed transportation projects for TSPLOST II; financial updates for 2026 and 2027; and a citywide update to the Unified Development Code.

Zoning questions at Highway 42 North and Campground Road

The city held a community zoning information meeting on Oct. 14. Officials were scheduled to give an overview of the zoning process using a PowerPoint presentation and to discuss Rezoning Case #RZ-2026-02, a request to change 1.64 +/- acres at Highway 42 North and Campground Road from LI (Light Industrial) to C2 (General Commercial).

A separate case, #RZ-2026-03, is set for a Planning Commission public hearing on Oct. 22. That request covers Parcel #071-01034004 at the northwest corner of Highway 42 North and Campground Road, also from LI to C2. The agenda describes the applicant as seeking the change to allow for future commercial development. The two items carry different case numbers.

Development boards

Main Street Advisory Board, Oct. 9: review of July, August and September 2026 financial statements; program updates; a vote on changing the organization's status to 501(c)(3); and an update on the Muscle & Mystique Car Show scheduled for Oct. 10, 2026.

Citywide Development Authority, Oct. 13: review and approval of October 2026 minutes, a Board Treasurer update, an Economic Development Department report, and a potential executive session to discuss real estate matters.

Youth Council

The Youth Council met Oct. 12 and its Advisory Committee met Oct. 15. Both agendas listed a GMA Symposium recap, the Fall Festival & City Tree Lighting, advisory recruitment, area beautification, a budget discussion/update, and establishment of 2027 meeting dates.

Stockbridge Council agenda takes up townhome zoning, vehicle purchases and park land

Stockbridge's City Council met Oct. 12 with an agenda that listed two townhome zoning requests, the purchase of police vehicles and pickup trucks, and the acceptance of a 13.07-acre park, according to the posted agenda. Minutes from that meeting have not been published, so no votes or outcomes are confirmed. That is also true of every other meeting in this roundup: each entry below comes from an agenda, and none has published minutes yet.

City Council, Oct. 12: townhomes, vehicles, park land

The agenda listed a zoning modification for a 91-unit townhome development at 55 Valley Hill Road, and a zoning modification plus removal of five conditions for a 90-unit townhome development at 4882 North Henry Boulevard. Council members were also set to consider a citywide update to the Unified Development Code, proposed transportation projects for TSPLOST II, and financial updates for 2026 and 2027.

Purchases on the agenda were five 2027 Ford Police Interceptors with upfitting for $358,561.20, and three 2027 Ford F-150 4x4 trucks for $157,305.78. The agenda also listed acceptance of a 13.07 +/- acre public park on Campground Road.

Sept. 29 work session: audit and contracts

The Council work session agenda listed approval of the 2025 audit report, renewal of RFP 2025-0007 with Crabapple Landscape Experts for $197,040 for right-of-way maintenance, and a contract with Dianna Hunt & Associates for acquisition services on about 52 parcels for $140,400 under the Neighborhood Legacy Project. It also listed Change Order No. 1 with East Coast Grading, LLC for $140,131 for resurfacing the Merle Manders Conference Center parking lot. Public comments at the session were limited to three minutes per speaker.

Main Street Advisory Board, Oct. 9

The board was scheduled to vote on changing the organization's status to a 501(c)(3). The agenda also listed review of July, August, and September 2026 financial statements, program updates, and an update on the Muscle & Mystique Car Show scheduled for Oct. 10, 2026.

Citizens-Police Advisory Council, Oct. 1

The council's monthly meeting was set for 6:00 PM. The agenda listed approval of the September 2026 minutes, police chief reports, an officer presentation, and public comments. Old business covered the Faith and Blue report, the Citizens Police Academy, and Henry night out; new business was a presentation by the SB Police Foundation. The agenda lists no votes on ordinances, contracts, or dollar amounts.

Stockbridge City Council to weigh $2.45M waste contract, $3M road resurfacing

Stockbridge city officials are preparing to consider a $2.45 million residential waste contract and a $3 million road resurfacing award at an Aug. 25 work session, the most significant financial items on the city's upcoming agenda. No final decisions have been reported from recent meetings, which were held as agenda-only sessions with minutes not yet published.

Recent meetings

City Council public hearing on millage rate (Aug. 10)

The City Council held a special called meeting for a public hearing on the proposed 2026 millage rate. City Treasurer Frank Milazi presented the rate. No other business was scheduled.

City Council meeting (Aug. 10)

The council held public hearings on several zoning and land-use items, including:

• A major modification to allow a 200-unit mixed-use development with 15,000 square feet of retail at 111 Old Conyers Road, increasing residential units from 160 to 200 and building height from 4 to 6 stories.
• A rezoning and special use permit for a bed-and-breakfast at 112 Old Conyers Road.
• A comprehensive plan amendment, rezoning, and special use permit for heavy industrial use at 4231 North Henry Boulevard (Vulcan Materials).

Development Authority meeting (Aug. 11)

The Stockbridge Citywide Development Authority discussed sponsorship requests for the Chris Tucker Golf Tournament & Comedy Show (Aug. 22 & 24) and the LPGA Golf Invitational (October 2026), a Hispanic Business Expo sponsorship split with the DDA ($875 per board), small business loan applications, the 2027 budget, and a request to appoint an executive director. The board also received updates on the tax abatement policy and a $500,000 revolving loan fund.

Community Zoning Information Meeting (Aug. 12)

The meeting covered two major zoning modification requests for previously approved but unbuilt townhome developments:

• ZM-2026-02: A revised 91-unit townhome plan at 55 Valley Hill Road, replacing a previously approved 149-unit plan by D.R. Horton.
• ZM-2026-03: A revised 90-unit townhome plan at 4882 North Henry Boulevard, including a request to remove five zoning conditions (site plan, waste collection, architectural design, gated community, rental cap) from the 2024 approval.

Both properties were sold to new owners after the original developments were not built. The meeting was informational; no final decisions were made.

Budget retreat (Aug. 12–14)

The City Council held a three-day budget retreat. The City Council convened an investigative hearing under Charter § 2.17 at Stockbridge City Hall. The agenda included only the call to order, pledge, hearing declaration, and adjournment; no specific topics or actions were listed.

Stockbridge council to weigh 200-unit development, waste contract, millage rate

No decisions were made by Stockbridge boards in the past two weeks; all recent meetings were agenda-only, with minutes not yet published. The most consequential items are scheduled for the coming week, including a City Council vote on a 200-unit mixed-use development, a residential waste collection contract, and a public hearing on the 2026 millage rate.

Recent meetings (agenda only)

The City Council met July 28 to discuss infrastructure contracts, including a $139,220.00 project to replace a culvert and stabilize a slope on Hillcrest Street, and a $216,835.00 design contract for a 1.1-mile multi-use trail along Walt Stephens Road. The council also reviewed a budget amendment and a proposal to move the financial system to a cloud-based platform. No votes were taken.

Upcoming City Council meeting – Aug. 10

The City Council will hold public hearings and consider several land-use items at its regular meeting Aug. 10:

Stockbridge meetings this week focus on quarry rezoning, 200-unit development, and tax incentive vote

Stockbridge residents saw a packed two weeks of public meetings, but official minutes have not yet been published for any of the six gatherings held between July 8 and July 17. Based on the agendas released, the most consequential items scheduled for discussion or votes included a proposed rock quarry expansion on North Henry Boulevard, a 200-unit mixed-use development on Old Conyers Road, and a second reading of a tax incentive program for blighted properties.

Quarry expansion and bed-and-breakfast zoning

A July 8 community zoning information meeting laid out five zoning cases for public review. The largest involves 4231 North Henry Boulevard, where the city is considering a comprehensive plan amendment from Low-Density Mixed-Use to Heavy Industrial (Case CP-2026-01), a rezoning from C-2 to Heavy Industrial (Case RZ-2026-02), and a special use permit for mineral removal and rock quarry operations (Case SP-2026-02). The same meeting included a rezoning of 112 Old Conyers Road from C-3 to Rural Residential (Case RZ-2026-01) and a special use permit for a bed-and-breakfast inn at that address (Case SP-2026-01). Planning Commission takes up six items

The Stockbridge Planning Commission met July 16 to hold a public hearing and consider six items, making recommendations to the City Council. The agenda included a major zoning modification request for 200 apartments and a six-story building at 111 Old Conyers Road (Case ZM-2026-01), the bed-and-breakfast rezoning and special use permit at 112 Old Conyers Road, and the comprehensive plan amendment, rezoning, and special use permit for quarry operations at 4231 North Henry Boulevard. City Council: tax incentives, engineering contract, appointment

The City Council's July 13 agenda called for a second reading and vote on an ordinance establishing a Community Redevelopment Tax Incentive program for blighted properties. The council was also scheduled to consider a scope of services under Contract No. RFP 2024-0001 with Whitley Engineering, Inc., appoint a member to the Planning Commission, and adopt minutes from the June 2 Henry County BOC joint meeting and the June 8 City Council summary minutes. A July 17 special called City Council meeting contained only procedural boilerplate, with no specific legislative items, contracts, or public hearings listed.
