Chairman Ferguson called the meeting to order. All members were noted present.

Chairman Ferguson led the Library Board in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Director Kolman noted that no request from citizens to address the Library Board had been
made.
Director Kolman also announced that this would be Member Maddox's final meeting with
the Library Board due to her moving away from Sunnyvale. He noted that Alternate
Member Walker will eventually be moved to Regular Member and that a new alternate
member will be appointed later.

Hear a report from the Friends of the Sunnyvale Public Library.
Member Bornowski announced that the Friends were changing the names and costs of
their membership levels. She also announced that the new tote bags had arrived and are
on sale at the circulation desk.

Director Kolman noted that with the beginning of Summer Reading, the library was once
again busy, and that there was a spike of new library card signups in May. He announced
the upcoming America's Early Birthday Party on July 3, with free hot dogs and lemonade,

1. Hear a report from the Friends of the Sunnyvale Public Library.
Member Bornowski noted that the Friends had a Board meeting the upcoming Thursday
to work on their budget for the upcoming year, and that she had made contact with local
business Joy Cafe, who was interested in working with both the library and the Friends,
and brought baked goods for the Library Board to enjoy during the meeting.
2. Hear the Director and Financial Reports for April 2026.
Director Kolman noted slightly lower circulation year-to-year in April, which he attributed
to less traffic due to the ongoing work on Vineyard Park, including issues with drainage
and masonry. Secretary Weir commented that changes to the park might increase usage
year round. Director Kolman noted that based on the percentage of the year that had
been completed, the line items that did not tend to get spent in clusters were generally in
line with expectations, and that there were no particularly large charges he was
expecting which might impact t …

ongoing work on other park spaces in Sunnyvale, and the installation of a gate on Tower
Place.
2. Hear a report from the Friends of the Sunnyvale Public Library.
Member Bornowski announced the Friends had received roughly $3,750 during Library
Giving Days, with the possibility of more depending on the possibility of charities
providing matching funds.
