Whereas, promoted to sergeant in 2005, Sergeant Soto served as a road patrol supervisor before joining the Neighborhood Resources Unit, where he served as a unit and administrative sergeant, organizing and overseeing numerous town-sponsored events, including the Battle of the Stars Football Tournament, Hurricane Irma recovery efforts, post- COVID food distributions, the culinary bike ride, the reindeer run, the Veterans Day Par ade, the Fourth of July event, among others. You guys are in a competition then. Whereas, throughout his career, Sergeant George Soto received over 60 commendations, recognizing his rapid response, dedication to duty, teamwork, astute powers of observation, enthusiasm, and professionalism, along with numerous recognitions, including police officer of the year finalist, multiple officer of the quarter recognitions, and a recognition for exemplary performance from Miami-Dade Police Department Director Carlos Alvarez.
