Council to weigh $5M encampment grant and park design

The council will consider approving a conceptual design for a 5.5-acre neighborhood park at the Pearl Wood property and receive a presentation on illegal fireworks enforcement. The consent calendar includes many routine items, notably a grant application for up to $5,000,000 for the Encampment Resolution Program, $4,100,000 in state road funding, and multiple contracts and purchases.

The City Council authorized staff to apply for up to $5 million in state Encampment Resolution Program funds to support the Visalia Navigation Center and permanent housing programs. The council also approved three consultant contracts totaling over $1.27 million for bike and pedestrian connectivity projects, and adopted an updated wastewater service agreement with the Goshen Community Services District. A conceptual design for a new 5.5-acre neighborhood park was approved with a modification to move the playground closer to the backstop.
