Hands on History, Mar 15th at 10:30. There will be 17 kids a day at the museum. The
museum will need volunteers for this event.

The Founders Day Committee meetings will start March 27th.
b. Potential Programs –
Tracy will be doing a mystery story program in May, like the missing snowman.
Randy Malloy – 50 year road trip, Texas military history.
An idea for October 25th – Victorian Picnic with a palm reader, etc.
Joanne has been compiling digital resources on our website. Billy Ford, Sr., Brenda
Norwood, Katy Casstevens, Mack Moody and others have had curriculum information
created.

DISCUSSION ITEMS2.
The Sub-Committee welcomed Jada McClure, a member of the Mansfield Youth
Council who volunteered to assist with making the Mansfield Independent School
District (MISD) history videos for the district’s social studies classes. The
Sub-Committee discussed the format of the third-grade video, with live presenters
and animated characters explaining the early history of Mansfield from the 1850s to
1890. Ms. Brown stated that she would develop a script for the video that Ms.
McClure and her fellow students could revise to make it more engaging for younger
students.

Jennifer Johnston, Committee chair, called the meeting to order at 5:03 p.m. in the
Planning Department Conference Room of City Hall, 1200 East Broad Street, with the
meeting being open to the public and notice of said meeting, giving the date, place,
and subject thereof, having been posted as prescribed by Chapter 551, Texas
Government Code.

DISCUSSION ITEMS2.
The Committee reviewed the draft Preservation Plan for factual and typographical
errors in the content. After making several corrections, the Committee had no further
revisions to draft plan. The Committee then discussed the steps needed for the
adoption of the plan.
Ms. Baber stated that she would present the draft Preservation Plan to the Historic
Preservation Advisory Board for its recommendation on February 27, 2025. A public
hearing process would be scheduled at the Historic Landmark Commission on March
13, 2025, and public hearings at the Planning and Zoning Commission and the City
Council might follow in April 2025.
